Abstract

634,994. Inflatable dinghies. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. Jan. 2, 1947, No. 175. Convention date, June 28, 1946. [Class 113 (ii)] In a pneumatic boat structure or the like having at least one generally tubular rail member with its ends joined to form a wholly unobstructed chamber internally thereof extending throughout its entire circumferential dimension, the boat comprises a plurality of rail members in vertically stacked relation. The rail member 2 is of greater length and broader beam than a second rail member 3 of greater cross-sectional area on which it is secured in substantially overhanging relation. The method of constructing a rail member comprises the steps of cutting pieces of rubberized fabric material to a shape such that when joined at the ends a continuous substantially flat strip is formed ; forming two of said strips, securing reinforcing tapes at the joints of one of said strips and adjacent but spaced inwardly from the marginal edges thereof, superposing the second strip on the first strip and intimately bonding the inner and outer edges of the superposed strips together, with the reinforcing tapes disposed between and bonded to the contacting surfaces of the strips.
