Abstract
634,056. Cables. PIRELLI SOC. PER AZIONI. March 22, 1948, No. 8391. Convention date, April 28, 1947. Drawing to Specification. [Class 36] Textile-insulated conductors are covered with a layer of polyvinyl chloride by first passing the insulated conductor through a bath containing an aqueous dispersion of p.v.c., then evaporating the water therefrom, passing the thuscovered conductor through a bath containing a dispersion of p.v.c. in a plasticizer such as tricresyl phosphate, and finally gelatinizing the p.v.c. The evaporation of the water and gelatinization of the p.v.c. are carried out in ovens heated to about 150‹ C. The soaking and heating operations may be carried out more than once to obtain a thicker layer of p.v.c., which may be coloured for identification purposes.
