Abstract
633,284. Electric space-heaters. AUSTIN MILLS, Ltd., and BEAVON. T. A. Feb. 16, 1948, No. 4410. [Class 39(iii)] An electric space-heater has an upstanding helix of helically coiled resistance wire 15 mounted on a framework tapering from the lower to the upper end and heats air as it flows up through a casing 7 in the housing 1. The pitch of the coils increases from the lower to the upper end of the helix, minimizing uneven heating of the resistance wire. The framework is rigidly attached to the top of the casing 7 but free to move longitudinally due to expansion at the bottom of the casing. The housing 1 may contain more than one heating assembly and casing which are arranged so that all the air passes through the casings. Kick switches controlling elements may be fitted to vary loading and output.
