Abstract

632,625. Transformers and inductances. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., MERCER, E. L., and STAFFORD, L. J. Jan. 26, 1948, No. 2302. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL (c)] A turret type coilholder for holding aerial circuit coils comprises two metallic discs 1, 2 spaced apart with the planes containing their peripheries parallel to each other and each disc has a plurality of projections, apertures or like locating means to co-operate with the coil formers 15. At least the disc 2 is of resilient material and is so displaced from the other that its resiliency allows the insertion of the coil formers 15. The disc 1 is of a dish-shape and in the flat rim portion are formed ten pairs of apertures 11 symmetrically spaced. The disc 2 has ten radial slots 7 also symmetrically-spaced; thus ten tongues 8 are formed in each of which a hole 9 and a slot 10 are cut away. The apertures 11 and the circles 9 serve to accommodate the end portions of the coil formers 15. The turret can be rotated by a shaft passing through a central hole 4 to which it is fixed by screws 6. Each coil former has four integral contact members 13 to which the coil windings are directly connected. These members 13 co-operate selectively with a set of fixed contact members in order to select a required frequency band on rotation of the turret. Each coil former 15 has an adjustable magnetic dust core 14 carried by a rod passing through an I-shape brass plate 18. Similar turrets may be used for switching other coils in radio-frequency circuits or in oscillator circuit and they may also be applied to signal generators or wavemeters.
