Abstract

632,472. Record sheet holder. LEVER BROS. & UNILEVER, Ltd., FOSTER, H. E., and LACEY, F. W. H. Dec. 3, 1947, No. 31953. [Classes 16 and 146 (i)] A record sheet holder, for use in computation of data in columns 101 on a number of separate record sheets 10 laid in overlapping relation on a support, comprises a backing support 1 of non-magnetic material, a strip 5 of ferro-magnetic material carried by the support, a packing edge 4 on the support, spaced apart from.and parallel to the strip 5, and a plurality of magnets 13, whereby the sheets 10 are held between the strip 5 and the magnets 13 by magnetic attraction. The support 1 is raised at one end on a batten 2 to give a convenient slope for use and is mounted on rubber feet 3. A straight edge 12 is provided and may be adjustably fixed to the support 1. The strip 5 may be adjustable, each end 6 being bent over and having a spring-pressed stud 7 fitting into one of a series of holes 8 in the side of the support 1. The packing edge 4 may be hinged as shown at 14 so that, after the sheets 10 are clamped it may be turned down as a continuation of the support 1, allowing free movement of the straight edge 12. A second strip 15 of ferro-magnetic material is provided along the top edge of the support 1 for holding the magnets 13 when not in use. A second packing edge 16 is provided which normally lies in a recess in the batten 2, but is hinged and can be raised to above the support 1. In use, the sheets 10 are aligned against the edge 4 and clamped by the magnets 13, the strip 5 being arranged so that it lies under the headings on the sheets. For sheets that are too long and extend over the top edge of the support, computations are made for the lower part, the strip 5 being at the top of the support, and then the sheets are aligned with their top edges against the raised edge 16, the strip 5 remaining at the top to lie under the headings on the sheets, and the remainder of the computations are then made. The holder for vertical computations will have vertical strip and packing edge and one holder may comprise both vertical and horizontal ferro-magnetic strips and packing edges.
