Abstract

631,802. Weighing-apparatus. BUHLER BROS. July 31, 1946, No. 22850. Convention date, Aug. 6, 1945. [Class 143] Flowing material is weighed by means of a closed weighing trough 4 through which the material is conveyed from an inlet 6 to an outlet 7 by the lower run of an endless chain or belt 5, the trough being mounted on the platform 2 of a balance 1. The driving motor 8 for the conveyer chain 5 is preferably mounted within the trough, and flexible or telescopic connections 16, 20 are provided at the inlet 6 and outlet 7 for connection with a feed conveyer 13 and a discharge conveyer 18. An adjustable flap 17 in the conveyer 13 regulates the level of material therein and the rate of flow through the apparatus. The balance 1 has an indicator 3 for the instantaneous net weight of material in the trough 4, an integrating meter 21 for the rate of flow and a meter 22 for the total flow. The meter 22 may be arranged to stop the motor 8 after the passage of a required weight of material. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also apparatus having a rotatable vaned element or pocketed drum in a cylindrical casing, in place of the chain 5 and trough 4. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
