631,362. Rolling. METALLIZING ENGINEERING CO., Inc. May 30, 1947, No. 14395. Convention date, Nov. 25, 1940. [Class 83 (iv)] Embossing.-A tool for producing a simulated sand-blasted surface on metal for spray metal bonding comprises a wheel 1 mounted on a shaft 5 adapted to be held in a machine tool holder, said wheel comprising a plurality of circumferential rows of teeth 9 and being freely rotatable about the axis of the shaft, at least the majority of said teeth having apex angles of between 45 degrees to 120 degrees, and a circumferential pitch within the range <SP>1</SP>/ 3o inch to <SP>1</SP>/ 4 inch and a pitch in the direction parallel to the axis of the shaft of “ inch, the teeth 15 of at least some of the rows being staggered with respect to the teeth 17 of other rows. In the embodiment described, the wheel 1 comprises a number of steel discs 8 carried by a spool 2 held on the shaft 5 between a screw 7 and a shoulder 6, so that spool 2 and disc assembly 1 may be easily replaced by removal of the screw 7. In a modification the spool and disc assembly may be mounted on a shaft held in bearings between the prongs of a twopronged fork.
