Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform continuous machining over the whole circumference of a valve plate regardless of the size of diameter by a manufacturing method consisting of a process in which both peripheral shoulder portions of the valve plate with a large diameter portion for supporting a valve shaft are cut and removed and a process in which the central part of the valve plate is machined into a circular cross section. CONSTITUTION:A valve plate 3 of almost disc form as a whole is provided with a large diameter portion 32 having a hole 34 into which a valve shaft is to be fitted in its diametrical direction. For cutting and machining the thin portion 33 of the valve plate 3, both peripheral shoulder portions of the thin portion are cut in such a way that they can fit cutting lines C1 and C2 predetermined to avoid the catch of them on the end of the large diameter portion. Then, the central flat portion of the valve plate is cut by using a circular form of a cutter. Thus, the valve plate can be continuously machined over its whole circumference regardless of the presence of the large diameter portion 32 for holding the valve shaft.
