Abstract
630,519. Side-car attachments. FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE. May I5, 1947, No. 13128. Convention date, May 15, 1946. [Class 136 (iii).] A motor cycle and sidecar chassis combination in which the sidecar chassis comprises a tubular framework of approximately rectangular shape having two laterally extending members which are rigidly and non-disconnectably attached to the lower part of the frame of the motor cycle, one side of the framework being parallel to the general direction of the motor cycle and the frame of the motor cycle being resiliently connected to the wheels. The sidecar is rigidly connected to a rectangular chassis strengthened by cross stays, the chassis joins with the tube 7 of the motor cycle frame at 15 and with a tube 19 at 20, the tube 19 connecting with the saddle support 6. The engine is supported on the motor cycle on a reinforced rectangular frame and member 9. The resilient suspension of the wheels is similar to that described in Specification 602,604. The bracing tube 26 of the chassis is extended and has vertical members 26<SP>1</SP>. pivoted to the sidecar wheel fork which is connected resiliently with the chassis by rubber rings 28 or the like passing round pins on the chassis and fork. The front wheel has a fork articulated at 14 and resilient elements stretched between pins on the chassis and to articulated members connected to the hub. The rear wheel fork 21 is pivoted at 61 to the frame and has rubber rings 51 on pins integral with the fork 2<SP>1</SP> and on a rod fixed to the frame below the saddle.
