628,687. Stud-and-socket fastenings. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Aug. 19, 1947, No. 22982. Convention date, Aug. 30, 1946. [Class 44] A stud member of adjustable length, for a rotary stud fastener comprises a cylindrical body 12 provided with a rounded nose 14, lateral arms 13 and a threaded bore 16 to receive a screw 10 on which is mounted a locknut 2 to lock the parts in the adjusted position. The screw has a slot 19 whereby it is turned to adjust the length of the stud and to engage the arms 13 with the socket part. In a modification the cylindrical body is shorter, the locking nut having a skirt to stiffen the stud. In another form, instead of being integrally formed, the arms are provided by the ends of a cross-pin held in a transverse bore in the body. Specification 557,676 is referred to.
