Abstract

627,640. Containers for dispensing articles. METAL BOX CO., Ltd., and GASCOIGNE, G. E. April 10, 1947, No. 9629. [Class 18] A container for dispensing cylindrical articles 14 comprises two annular side members 10, 11 fitted within an outer wall 13 and each provided with a dished central portion 12 so that the outer wall and edges of the dished portions form a guide way for the articles inserted into the container. An aperture or two apertures 18, 19 is or are provided in the top of the container to permit the articles to be inserted and an aperture 20 is provided in the bottom to permit the discharge' of the articles. Alternatively the articles may be inserted through an aperture in the top of the side walls. Guide plates 15 and 16 turned up from a single blank of material are attached to the bottom of the container and provide a stand for supporting the container in a vertical position. A guide 22 is supported between the guides 15, 16 and extends through the aperture 20 to the edges of the dished portions 12 so that articles inserted in one half of the container are prevented from intermingling with articles in the other half. Similarly, for this purpose, a partition may be disposed in the container between the apertures 18 and 19. Tabs 21 formed on the blank of material from which the guides 15, 16 are formed are upturned to support the guide 22 and to provide a stop for the articles being dispensed from the container. The articles are inserted through either of the apertures 18, 19 and are guided between the outer wall 13 and the edges of the dished portions 12 so that they pass through the aperture 20 to abut against the stops 21. Smaller articles may be dispensed from one side of the container and for this purpose a reinforcement may be inserted between the side walls concentric with the edges of the dished portions to accommodate the articles. The container itself is in the form of an enlarged replica of the article being dispensed.
