Abstract

627,137. Liquid storage tanks. LINDE AIR PRODUCTS CO. May 19, 1947, No. 13459. Convention date, May 21, 1946. [Class 69 (i)] [Also in Group XXXII] A double walled insulated tank car is characterized in that the supports for the outer shell are located substantially over the main bolsters and that the suspending means for the inner vessel are located between said supports. The car comprises a frame F and bolsters 21, above which are mounted brackets 22 for supporting the outer shell 11, internally reinforced by hoops 24, brackets 38 providing a longitudinal shear connection between the frame and the shell. Intermediate the brackets 22, the shell is reinforced by hoops 20 to support the inner vessel 10 by at least two strap and rod cradles 13 adjustably secured to the shell within sealed boxes 16. Side sway of the inner vessel relative to the shell is prevented by providing at each end thereof two rods 25 extending downwardly at 45 degrees to the horizontal and secured at one end by brackets 29 to the end of the vesesel and at the other to sealed boxes 28 mounted on the shell. Fore and aft location is provided at each end by two rods 30 secured at one end by brackets 35 to the vessel wall and at the other end to sealed boxes 33 located on the shell between radial diaphragms 36 secured to the inner face of each shell head.
