625,142. Sewing-machines. BATA, NARODNI PODNIK. Nov. 18, 1946, No. 34152. Convention date, July 23, 1940. [Class 112] The path of work clamps 9, 11 is resultant upon a combination of longitudinal and transverse movements, the longitudinal movement being derived from a cam 7 and the transverse movement from a cam actuated pinion 31 engaging a rack 15. The clamp 9 is pivoted to a support member 13 joined with the clamp 11 by a rod 12, and the clamps are pressed together by a spring 33. The support member is moved longitudinally by the cam 7, a lever 18, and a link 23. The link slides along a pin 22 to permit the transverse movement which is given by a cam 6, a lever 25, a link 28, a rack 30, the pinion 31, and the rack 15 carrying a sleeve 14 sliding on the rod 12. The springs 17, 32 keep the levers 18, 25 in contact with the cams 7, 6 respectively. Alteration in pattern size may be obtained by moving the pins 22, 27, whilst other alterations of pattern may be made by changing one or both cams.
