Abstract

1325510 Knitting machines EDOUARD DUBIED & CIE SA 5 Nov 1971 [9 Nov 1970] 51498/71 Heading D1C A widening device for a parallel machine comprises at least one cam 19, 30 on the carriage which can occupy two separate positions in one of which it actuates a thrust device with a finger 20 which pushes its associated needle spring 4 so that its butt can be engaged by a cam on the carriage to move the spring longitudinally to push its associated needle 3 into the path of the knitting cams. The extreme positions of springs 4 are determined by lips 5 engaging dents 8, 9 in the needle bed 1 and they are guided by a bed 10 secured under bed 1. Bed 10 carries a dovetail-shaped guide-bar on which slides a slide 15. A pin 19 on a pusher 16 pulled upwards by spring 25 and carried by slide 15 engages one end of a pivoted lever 17 whose other end engages a pin 21 on the thrust finger 20. During widening, the spring 4 of a needle about to be brought into action rests in a relief 32 in finger 20. Cams 29, 30 are controlled by a programme which may be part of the main programme and may consist of perforated cards.
