Abstract

A zig-zag sewing machine having a plurality of rotary stitch drawing cams, a cam follower mounted for pivoting movement about an axis, and sliding on it, which is parallel to the axis of the cams, means for loading the cam follower to pivot to tracking application with the cams, cam selector means to pivot retract the cam follower from the tracking application with the cams and to move the cam follower to operational relationship with a selected cam of the group of cams, characterized in that means are provided for rendering the loading means inoperative to facilitate actuation of the cam selector means and for restoring the loading means, which comprise anchoring means for the loading means movable between a first position, in which the loading means are operatively tensioned, and a second position in which the loading means are relaxed.
