Abstract

624,443. Kinematograph spools. HENRIQUEZ, M. LOPEZ-. Sept. 26, 1946, No. 28829. [Class 97 (i)] A spool has relatively rotatable flanges and a hub attached to one of them which is tapered for part of its length towards the end remote from the flange to which it is attached. In the form shown, the flanges 10, 11 are secured to tubular members 20, 22 relatively rotatable on ball bearings 21. The flange 11 carries the annular hub 23 tapered at 24. A notch in the periphery of the hub holds the end of the film. The flange 11 has six equally spaced spokes. In the flange 10 one such spoke is omitted to allow the film 15 to be wound from the inside of the coil. For this purpose the spool is mounted on a spindle 25 secured to a flange 33 on a member supported on the stub shaft 27 on the upper spool arm of the projector. The said member also has an arm 34 which carries film guiding rollers 35. The flange 11 has a square central hole which passes over the squared portion 32 of the spindle 25, and bears on the circular portion beyond. The flange 10 has a circular aperture and is supported by the upper face of the squared portion 32 and located by keys 26 engaging recesses in the spool flange.
