[Class 36] A subaqueous power cable without any special pressure protection has insulation of varying thickness such that, taking into account the varying depth of water in which different portions of the cable are to be placed, the breakdown voltage of the cable is approximately constant along its whole length. The cable is preferably constructed with insulation lengths of different thickness, the thickness depending on the depth at which the particular length will be placed.
