Abstract

623,957. Windows. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. June 5, 1947, No. 14846. Convention date, June 14, 1946. Addition to 532,152. [Class 20(iii)] Instead of mounting the panes of a double window in the channels 10a, 10b of the rubber mounting strip 10 as in the parent Specification, runner rails 8, 9 are mounted in these channels so that, by mounting the panes in frames 1, 2 which engage the runner rails, the window may be opened. One or both of the wedging filler strips 12, 13 may be provided with a protruding pull ring so that by sharply jerking the ring the filler strips can be rapidly removed and the whole assembly pushed out in an emergency. The rails 8, 9 each comprise a length of flat metal strip extending completely round the window opening, the ends of each strip having interlocking dovetails to form a closed track.
