623,651. Sand-blast. MOREL, S. Dec. 14, 1946, No. 36941. Convention date, Jan. 7. [Class 60] [Also in Group XXVIII] A sand-blasting process comprises producmg a stream of compressed air, suspending in said stream the maximum amount of abrasive particles compatible with a predetermined rate of flow of the compressed air and causing the stream of compressed air and abrasive particles in suspension therein to suck a further amount of abrasive particles immediately ahead of the point where the stream is discharged in the open-air. Apparatus comprises a frusto-conical body 1 to which is fixed by a nut 2 an outlet nozzle 3 the rear end 12 of the inner wall of which merges with inner wall of the body 1. The body 1 has a screwed rear plate 4 having a boss 5 in which is screwed a nozzle holder 7, fixed by a screw 8, carrying a nozzle neck 9 maintained in position by an injector tube 10, fixed by screws 11. The outlet end of the tube 10 is adjacent the flared inlet end of the discharge nozzle 3, the internal diameter of which is larger than the internal diameter of the tube 10. The boss 5 is connected by a sleeve 13 to a tube 14 on which is fixed a flexible pipe 15 through which is supplied compressed air laden with abrasive. Additional abrasive is drawn into the body 1 through tubes 16 connected by flexible pipes with the supply of abrasive. In a modification, the injector tube 10 is constituted by the outlet nozzle of a blast gun which may be of the kind in which abrasive and compressed air are supplied separately to the gun.
