Abstract
622,961. Moulding corrugated sheets. SMIDTH & CO. AKTIESELSKAB, F. L. Dec. 13, 1946, No. 36846. Convention date, Jan. 28, 1943. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] Corrugated cement-asbestos sheets are made in a plant comprising a station 1 for positioning a corrugated moulding plate 12 on a reciprocating conveyer 5, a station 2 for placing a plane sheet on a previously positioned plate 12, a corrugating and trimming press 3, and a discharge station 4. The conveyer 5 is of such a length that it bridges three stations. Resilient detents 30, fixed to a stationary part of the apparatus, prevent the plates from moving, when the conveyer moves to the right, and are depressed out of engagement with the plates, when the conveyer moves to the left. In operation, with the conveyer in its extreme left position, a plate 12 is raised from a pile 7 by suckers 11, a plane sheet is deposited on a plate by suckers 13, and the corrugation of a plane sheet in the press is begun. When the conveyer has been moved to the right, a corrugated sheet is deposited at 4 onto a lower conveyer 6, and the previously raised plate 12 is deposited on the conveyer. Leftward movement of the conveyer moves the previously corrugated sheet to the discharge station, the deposited sheet to the press, and the moulding plate to the feeding station 2. The conveyer, press, and the depositing and discharging devices may be operated pneumatically. Electro-magnets may be used in place of or in addition to the suckers for holding the plates 12. The lower conveyer' 6, which may consist of trucks, may be used to supply the plates 12 and to remove the moulded sheets to a hardening plant. Brushes 31, 32 are provided to lubricate both sides of the plates. The discharging device comprises a rod 43, Fig. 5, having a tooth 40 which supports the plate and corrugated sheet 45. When the plate and sheet are lowered onto the conveyer 6 and their weight is thus relieved from the teeth 40, the action of a spring 41 causes the teeth to rotate from under the moulding plate. The Specification as open to inspection comprises also the use of suckers in the discharge device. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
