Abstract

622,874. Pipe-cleaning tools. GENERAL DESCALING CO., Ltd., and WEBB, L. W. April 10, 1947, No. 9535. [Class 99(ii)] A pipe-scraping tool adapted to be propelled or assisted through the pipe by fluid pressure comprises one or more piston units 3 and scraper units 4 strung on a wire rope 2 and separated by spacers 5. A guide comprises rearwardly curved resilient arms 11, and the scraper blades have transverse cutting edges 15. A scraper unit comprises a boss 12 having a number of flanges 13, each carrying a number of rearwardly inclined spring scraper blades 14, the blades of the sets being arranged to cover the whole surface of the pipe. The diameter of each set of blades may increase rearwardly of the unit. The piston units include resilient rings 21, and the spacing between piston units should exceed the bore of branch pipes. The spacers 5 are received in sockets 25, and the units are urged together by a spring 6.
