Abstract
<FORM:0619544/IV (c)/1> <FORM:0619544/IV (c)/2> <FORM:0619544/IV (c)/3> Dyes of the formula of Fig. VI, wherein Z represents the non-metallic atoms to complete a ring, are prepared by condensing in an acid medium compounds of the formul of Figs. II and V, wherein R is H, or substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, X is an acid residue, Ar is aryl, and Z represents the atoms to complete a 5-or 6-membered heterocyclic ring. In examples, dyes are prepared by reacting furfurol with (1) 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone in the presence of anthranilic acid, HBr, and alcohol or in the presence of N-methylaniline, methylene-disalicylic acid, and alcohol or in the presence of aniline, methylene-di-salicylic acid, and alcohol; and (2) with thiobarbituric acid or thiohydantoin in the presence of anthranilic acid, methylene-di-salicylic acid and alcohol.
