[Class 78 (i)] In a crop conveyer mechanism in which a rotary auger receives the crop material along one side and moves it longitudinally through a housing in co-operation with a stationary stripper plate, the stripper plate is angularly positioned with respect to the axis of the auger while extending edgewise towards the auger. A rotary auger 10 in the form of a tube 20 with a spiral or helical flight 21 receives the crop from a conveyer 11 and moves it longitudinally through a housing 14 in co-operation with a stationary stripper plate 23, set at an angle to the flight, to a feed opening 12 leading to a baler 13. The stripper plate is attached to one part of the housing 14 of the auger and is set at an angle thereto so that it crosses the flight of the auger at an angle D which is approximately a right angle. It is partly helical and twisted in a direction opposite to the direction of the vane of the auger. The stripper plate extends at a constant distance from the flight from a point substantially below the axis level of the inlet end to the auger, and thence upwardly around and along the upwardly moving side to a point above the axis level at the delivery end. When used with a longer auger, the inclination of the stripper plate is reduced so that the angle D is smaller.
