Abstract

618,777. Resistance heating elements. PROCEDES SAUTER. March 15, 1946, No. 8173. Convention date, Oct. 1, 1943. [Class 39 (iii)] A heating element for a domestic oven, chafing-dish or radiator has a casing in the form of a straight metal gutter 1 filled with refractory material 2, e.g. cement in which the resistance element 3 is embedded so as to emerge from the cement 2. The shallow metal vessel 1 is rectilinear and has its upper edges turned in to hold the cement, which has a flat or concave surface and is hardened by passage of current through the helicoidal resistance wire 3 therein. The cement may be grooved, e.g. transversely, before hardening. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also embedding the element in the refractory material so as to be flush therewith, and the gutter may be spiral or circular. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
