Abstract

618,580. Signs. HIRST, M. Nov. 16, 1946, No. 34024. [Class 3(ii)] A symbol, Fig. 1, is made of sheet metal or other suitable material and has one or more integral teeth, prongs or the like B, each tooth having an integral flange extending angularly therefrom along one longitudinal edge. The teeth enable the symbols to be fixed to a support or be interchangeably and slidably mounted in a slot in a carrier. The letters may be cast but are preferably stamped out of sheet material, each tooth B being made by cutting a slit E in a projecting part of the sheet and bending a part C at right angles. The teeth may extend longitudinally of the sheet as at F or at right angles as at G. They may be uniform, crosssection or pointed, be serrated to form a screw-thread or have corrugated edges. The carrier M, Fig. 3, is of channel section with L-shaped slots in its top surface. The teeth are inserted in the slots and the symbol is slid along so that the surface O engages the part E of the tooth.
