Abstract
618,505. Loom stop-motions; shuttles. COMPTOIR LINIER. Dec. 17, 1945, No. 34191. Convention date, June 13. [Classes 142(i) and 142(iii)] A stop-motion for circular and other looms for detecting and indicating the breakage, slackening, or exhaustion of the warp and weft threads by separate electrical means in combination with switches which control the supply circuit of the driving motor and an electric brake and have their movable contact elements maintained in the open position by each warp or weft thread when said thread is drawn tight, is characterized in that the switches 22 are arranged in auxiliary circuits supplied by a source 3 of electric current different from that which supplies the driving motor 6 and the brake 31, luminous and acoustic signals 17, 18, 40, 41, being connected in the auxiliary circuits as well as relays 21 which control the supply of current to the motor and the brake. Each warp thread 13 is associated with a flexible rod 14 which on failure of the tension of the thread contacts with a rail 15, common to a pair of heddles, to close one of the auxiliary circuits supplied by the source 3 of electric current and the actuation of the signals 17, 18. Each weft thread 9 is associated with a flexible rod 47 which when the tension of the thread fails contacts with a metal shuttle 1 or a finger thereon to close the other auxiliary circuit supplied by the source 3 and cause the actuation of the signals 40, 41. Auxiliary manuallyoperated switches 28, 39, are arranged in the auxiliary circuits corresponding to the warp and weft threads respectively. The, or each, shuttle 1 which is driven by an electromagnet 2 as described in Specification 618,504, carries a brush 34 which bears against a comb 35, and an arm 43 provided with a brush 44 which contracts a metallic ring 45.
