Abstract
Fats, fatty oils and oleaginous materials contain as an anti-oxidant for preventing rancidity, a small proportion of nordihydroguaiaretic acid, i.e. b -g -dimethyl, a -d -bis-(3.4-dihydroxyphenyl) butane or a plant extract containing this compound. Fatty materials specified comprise butter, tallow, shortenings, particularly lard, wool fat, cotton seed oil, corn oil, soya bean oil, fish liver oils, edible hydrogenated animal and vegetable oils, meat, fish and other fat-containing foods, cosmetics and other fatty pharmaceuticals. The additive may be dissolved in alcohol as a carrier. Specification 618,406 is referred to.ALSO:Butter, shortenings &c. contain as an antioxidant for preventing rancidity, a small proportion of nordihydroguaiaretic acid i.e. b 8 dimethyl, -8-bis (3.4-dihydroxyphenyl) butane or a plant extract containing this compound. The additive may be dissolved in alcohol as a carrier Specification 618,406, [Group III], is referred to.ALSO:Meat, fish, and other fat-containing foods, cosmetics and other fatty pharmaceuticals contain as an anti-oxidant for preventing rancidity, a small proportion of nordihydroguaiaretic acid, i.e. b -g dimethyl, a -d -bis (3.4.-dihydroxyphenyl) butane or a plant extract containing this compound. The additive may be dissolved in alcohol as a carrier. Specification 618,406 is referred to.
