Abstract

Cigarettes are made by rolling papers coated with tobacco, previously attached thereto by adhesive. A continuous band of cigarette paper passes through adhesive applying rollers, is then sprayed with tobacco, and finally passes through compressing rollers before being cut and packed. Smalls, waste or tobacco dust may be used and a sealing edge is left. If the sealing edge is long enough to surround the complete cigarette, the paper band may be coated on both sides. The adhesive may be a gum or a thermo-plastic.
