Abstract
617,671. Fish-dressing machines. FISADCO, Ltd., and FARRER, E. R. B. Oct. 14, 1946, No. 30575. [Class 28 (ii)] In a fish-dressing machine in which the tail of a fish is gripped by moving clamps and thereby pulled away from a feed table 2 and is then carried away and presented to knives or tools to split, fillet, &c., the fish, the tail fin passes between stationary guides 21, 22 terminating in a narrow slot between needle like guide extensions 24, 25 which flatten and straighten the tail fin before it enters the clamp. The guides are especially suitable for large fish, e.g. cod. The clamp is carried on a cylindrical rod carried by a clockwise rotated table adjacent to an anticlockwise rotated feed table 2. The clamp jaws pass one above and one below the guides 24, 25. The clamp jaw 9 is normally held against the other jaw by springs 12 and is timed to open to receive a tail fin by a fixed cam 14 on a stationary arm 15. After gripping the tail fin the clamp is rotated through 90 degrees by cam rails 16, 17 which guide rollers 18 and 19 attached by arms to the clamp pivot 17. The rails 16, 17 are interrupted as shown to allow entry of the roller 19. This 90 degrees rotation pulls the fish tail from a radial position to a tangential position so that the fish is presented longitudinal to the tools.
