616,877. Change-speed chain gear. JEANMOT, [nee FASQUE], G. April 10, 1946, No. 11057. Convention date, Nov. 25, 1942. [Class 80 (ii)] A carrier 16 for a chain -shifting jockeypulley 18 in a cycle change-speed gear of the multi-sprocket type, swings transversely of the cycle on equal parallel links 12, 13 on an upper arm 6, which, for chain-tensioning, swings longitudinally on a transverse pivot 3 on a fixed member 1, bolted at 2 to the cycle-frame, and is pressed in the chaintensioning direction by a helical torsion-spring on the pivot 3, one end 7 of the spring anchoring on the arm 6 whilst its other anchors in one of a series of notches 5 in the head of the pivot 3 to provide adjustment. The jockey-pulley carrier 16 is swung transversely to shift the chain on to differentsized sprockets on the cycle-hub by a single cable C, anchored to, and wrapping in an arcuate groove in one, 12, of the parallel links, the cable being opposed by a return-spring 21 acting on the other link 13, which has a screw stop 20 limiting inward movement. Chainguide flanges 17 are provided on the jockeypulley carrier 16.
