Abstract

615,873. Moulding honeycombs. CLAXTON, C. GADD-, and BEITH, G. R. Aug. 16, 1946, No. 24517. [Class 87 (ii)] A machine for making honeycombs comprises a series of electrically heated formers 15 which are reciprocated and driven into a slab 33 of wax which is passed step by step across them. The formers are mounted on plates 10, 11, having a passage 13 between them, and a wedge block 9 and are reciprocated by a cam 30 on a shaft 40 which also rotates a one-tooth pinion 37 which moves the rack 36 and bar 34 carrying the wax slab 33, step by step. The melted wax from the cells made by the formers 15 runs through passages in the formers into the passage 13 which contains an electric heater and to the discharge pipe 29. Means may be provided for stopping the machine if the temperature of the formers falls below a predetermined amount.
