[Class 46] In a filter or strainer of the kind comprising a straining wall formed from a series of spaced parallel plates providing between them filtering slots through which the fluid flows and a scraper blade El permanently in engagement with each slot B and relatively movable with respect to the slot, the leading edge (in the case of unidirectional movement), or edges E2 (in the case of oscillatory movement) of each blade extend completely across the slot in which the blade lies and the part E<SP>3</SP> behind the leading edge or edges E<SP>2</SP> is cut away or reduced in width so as to extend only partly across the slot.
