Abstract
614,936. Inductances. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. April 30, 1946, No. 12978. Convention date, Jan. 28, 1942. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (ii)] A sliding core inductance wherein the coil comprises one or more windings having a progressively varying inductance is provided with a comparatively short iron core movably arranged in such manner that it always remains within the coil, i.e. all parts of it lie between the outer limits of the windings which constitute the coil. The progressive variation of the winding may be discontinuous, with the coil consisting of a plurality of discrete seriesconnected windings of unequal inductances, or it may be continuous, as when there is a single winding with progressively varying pitch. Specifications 535,719, 536,505 and 552,785 are referred to.
