Abstract

613,194. Juice extracting machines. KARP, Z., and KOFFLER. M. June 14. 1946, No. 17977. [Class 28(ii)] In the extraction of juice by squeezing citrus fruit between a cup 1 and a cone 2 the contamination of the juice by the oily liquor which is simultaneously extracted from the peel and runs down the inner surface of the cup is prevented by providing on the cone an apron 7 the sloping sides 9 of which divert the liquor into a trough 11. As shown, the cone is hollow and is provided with perforations 3 through which the juice is drained off to an outlet 10. The small amount of juice which flows down the exterior surface of the cone passes through the space 8 and channels 6. If desired the perforations may be omitted. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the apron is integral with the base of the cone, the channels 6 being omitted. The device may be incorporated in a machine extractor.
