Abstract
612,935. Sifting - apparatus. W O O D - CRAFT, W. C., and DRAKARD, F. A. June 11, 1946, No. 17337. [Class 117] A screening appliance comprising a body a having a hopper b at the top, screens c, d, removably fitted and angularly set at opposite inclinations in the body and separate outlets e, k for the screened material and dust respectively at the bottom, is provided with means e.g. hooks or brackets f for fixing the appliance to a vehicle delivering material to a site. A partition plate h between the two screens c, d isolates the dust falling through screen c from material passing down screen d, the dust portions from the screens being directed repectively to opposite sides of the outlet e for the larger particles. This latter outlet may comprise a detachable chute having a sloping floor with its lower end e' normally projecting through the body wall. A receptacle such as a bag k is connected to the dust outlet. In a modified form of the appliance suitable for suspension under the body of a vehicle provided with a trap door or shutter through which the material may be shovelled directly into the hopper, a single screen is provided below which the dust may be collected in a detachable container, the large particles being discharged through an outlet in the side wall.
