Abstract
612,774. Electromagnetic relays. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and CHILDS, P. A. June 3, 1946, No. 16766. [Class 38 (v)] A relay specially adapted for repeating impulses and with adjustable time-lag for both operation and release, has an operating winding IW and a control winding CW, the control winding being provided with alternative shunt circuits each containing a variable resistance and one being operative during " operation " of the relay and the other during " release." In the form shown, the two variable resistances AB and BC are constituted by a potentiometer connected up to two rectifiers R1, R2 as shown. During " operation " of the relay, an induced secondary current flows from CW through BC and R2 and during '' release " through BA and R1. In a modification, the rectifiers R1, R2 are replaced by relay-operated contacts which effect the necessary connections.
