Abstract

612,540. Face protectors. GILLMAN, S. N., and DEE, J. May 15, 1946, No. 14713. [Class 97 (i)] A translucent or opaque shield shaped to extend from the bridge of spectacles or sunglasses and to extend over the nose is attached to the frame of the spectacles by trunnion-like projections, one on either side of the shield, which engage correspondingly shaped apertures or recesses adjacent the bridge of the frame. As shown, the shield 4 has polygonal projections 6 engaging apertures 7 in lugs 8 on the frame, the shield either being sprung into position or the bridge 2 being of springy or extensible material permitting the lug 8 to be moved apart for insertion of the shield. The polygonal shape of the projections permits variation of the angle between shield and frame.
