611,913. Fishing vessels. BURNEY, Sir C. D. Sept. 7, 1945, No. 23152. [Class 113 (ii)] [Also in Group XIII] A fishing vessel has a refrigerating plant 10 operated by a small power unit, in conjunction with a large low temperature reservoir 18 containing a reserve of coolant for use during peak fishing periods. The low temperature reservoir 18 is contained within the fish storage hold 14 arranged forward of the engine and boiler rooms 15, 16 while the refrigerating machinery space 17 is disposed immediately abaft the engine and boiler rooms. The quick freezing chamber 10 is provided on the main deck 5 and after initial freezing the fish are conveyed to the storage hold 14 by means of a travelling belt 12 housed within an insulated tunnel 19. The fish are glazed by water sprays at 13. The net is shot from the stern of the ship, which is fitted with a sloping shoot 1, and the others are hauled up side shoots 2 to a deck 4, above the main deck 5, used solely for supporting the net. The fish pass through a hatch 6 to fish ponds 7 and after gutting are stacked in a rack 9 adjacent the freezer.
