610,027. Metal-to-glass seals. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., BREADNER, R. L., and SDIMS, C. H. April 10, 1945, No. 8840. [Class 36] A multi-conductor unit comprises a prefabricated glass body 2 with conductors 1 sealed therethrough and its edge-portion 3 conforming to the profile 5 of the metal casing or like unit 4. As shown, the latter is heated whilst supported on the flange 6 of a dieblock 7 and pressure applied to effect a seal around the periphery of the glass body. According to the Provisional Specification, the dieblock may be evacuated to set-up a pressuredifference on the faces of the glass. Specification 593,500 is referred to.
