Bladedeflecting drums 12, 13 are mounted adjacent to and on opposite sides of the plane MN tangential to opposite sides of the drums 10, 11. Parallelism in the cutting zone is ensured by slotted guides 22, the blades being twisted through 180 degrees between the upper and lower drums. The points 18, 19 at which the blades contact the deflecting drums should be between the planes MN and that, AB, containing the axes of the drums 10, 11. U.S.A.
