Abstract
608,362. Screw-and-nut mechanism. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Feb. 21, 1946, No. 5394. Convention date, Feb. 24, 1945. [Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXX and XXXIII] A screw-and-nut mechanism, particularly for operating the doors or flaps of aircraft, comprises a screw shaft 20 rotated by, for example, an electric motor to displace a nut member 21 axially to operate an actuating member 65 connected thereto by a tubular member 60, telescopic shields 40, 50 and 70 being provided for excluding dust and grit from the mechanism. The portions 40, 50 slide on the outer surface of the tube 60 whilst the portion 70 moves within the tube 60 under control of a spring 75, sealing rings 41, 51, 52, 61 and 66 being provided between the various members.
