Abstract

607,829. Pulse modifying circuits. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. Feb. 12, 1946, No. 4388. Convention date, Feb. 15, 1945. [Class 40 (vi)] Signal pulses, which may have been shortened by radio transmission, are converted to a desired length by combining them with a delayed version of the same pulses, the delay being not greater than the length of any pulse. In one embodiment, pulses from the amplifier 21, Fig. 2, are fed to the clipper 22 and a delay network 26 is connected across the connections between the two circuits. The pulses entering the network are reflected from its opencircuited end, and on reaching the input end, combine with undelayed pulses to lengthen them by a time equal to twice the delay of the network. The clipper 22 removes the double amplitude overlapping portions of the input pulses applied to it. In a further embodiment, a clipper 34, Fig. 3, is fed with undelayed pulses from an amplifier 31 and pulses from a parallel amplifier 32 delayed by passage through a delay line 33.
