Abstract

607,719. Resilient floors. LARSEN, B. V. Dec. 21, 1945. No. 34790. Convention date, May 5, 1942. [Class 20(iv)] In a resilient floor, the floor 5, 15 rests on joists 4, 14 carried on resilient planks or like members 3, 13, which in turn are supported at spaced points on rigid supports, such as blocks, pillars 2, or beams 8, and spaces, corresponding to the maximum deflection of the floor, are left between joists on the floor and the supports or members 7 rigidly fixed thereto, so that further deflection is prevented by the joists or the floor engaging against the parts of the resilient members which rest on the supports, against the supports themselves, or against members rigidly mounted on them. The thickness of the blocks 6, Fig. 3, is equal to the maximum deflection of the floor, and the blocks are placed within the span of the members 3, e.g. mid-way, so that on further loading the joists 4 or boards 5 rest directly on the supports 2, or on pads 7 of fibre &c. Fig. 5 shows beams 8, tie members 9, ceiling 11, and fillets 12 supporting resilient members 13. The height of the members 13, and the thickness of the joists 14 being such that the floorboards 15 rest directly on the beams 8 when the maximum deflection has been reached. Specification 578,294 is referred to.
