Abstract
606,870. Absorption tower tray assemblies. GLITSCH, H. C., and GLITSCH, F. W. Jan. 30, 1946, No. 3053. [Class 55(ii)] A tray assembly for an absorption tower has one or more supports secured to its inner wall to support spaced parallel horizontal trusses 13 on which deck plates are arranged, fastening portions extending from the upper ends of the trusses and engaging downwardly upon the supports so that a complete tray may be thus lowered into position, and means clamping the fastening portions to the supports. Each tray has deck plates bolted in slots 20 in the upper flange 18 of C or L section trusses 13 which are cut at the ends as at 34, so that the upper flange extends beyond the lower flange 19 to provide a fastening portion with slot 31. Supports 25 are secured to the wall of the tank below the annular ring 11 and each has a horizontal flange 28 with slot 30, the end of the truss rests on this flange and is 'clamped by nut and bolt 32, 33 through the slots 30, 31, so that the upper surfaces of the truss and ring 11 are flush. The ends of the truss may be strengthened by plates 35 connecting the flanges. The edges of the deck plates are clamped to the ring 11 through slots 16 by clamps such as are described in Specification 628,343. In the. example shown in Fig. 7 the ring 11 supports the trusses by means of clamps 39, 43. The part 39 welded into a slot 38 in the upper flange of the truss rests at the outer end 40 on the ring 11 and has. a bolt 41 which is fixed by a nut 46 in a slot 44 in the member 43, which engages at one end under the ring 11 and at the other, by means of the lug 45, under the truss flange 18.
