[Class 39(ii)] [Also in Groups XXIV and XXX] A machine for making electric lamps comprises rotatable work-holders or heads 19 moved into successive positions by an intermittently revolving turret or carrier 13, and a sector gear 65 engaging pinions 35 on the head spindles between stations E ... N moves counterclockwise with the turret to lock the heads against rotation. When the turret is stationary the sector gear moves clockwise to rotate the heads gently through about 1¢ revolutions. At stations O ... D, the heads are locked by the interaction of shoes 36 on their spindles with a shoe track 38, and as the heads leave the last and approach the first of these stations cam profiles 89 and 90 raise and lower segments 80, 81 of the sector gear t'o mesh and disengage respectively with the pinions 35 on the head. The work is held on the heads by a vacuum. Specification 252,395, [Class 39(ii)], is referred to.
