[Class 52(i)] [Also in Group XV] In a visible filing cabinet of the type in which trays holding record cards are slidably mounted in the cabinet, the rear ends of the sides of the trays are pivotally and slidably connected each to a separate runner which is slidably mounted in a guide, the pairs of guides for the trays being secured to front and rear frames to form a chassis which is slidable into the cabinet from the back and is held against a flange at the front by a detachable back panel. Trays k have laterally projecting pegs k' which ride on flanges h<2> in channel section runners h having a limited forward movement in guides d, the guides d being fixed by means of turned back tongues e to the sides of front and rear frames c. The chassis so formed is mounted in a cabinet a, the detachable back panel of which is screwed on to brackets secured to the walls of the cabinet and set in from the back so that tightening of the screws presses the front frame c against the flange g. The runners h are retained in the guides d by tongues j pressed up out of flanges f on the guides d, and have notches m provided through which the pegs k' can be passed to remove the trays k. The forward movement of a runner h is limited by a stop l on the guide d which snaps into a recess h<3> in the bottom of the runner. The trays are raised clear of the flanges f by the lips g at the front end by its pegs k<1> at the rear. The lowermost runners and guides may have a panel s in place of a tray, which can be swung up to close the opening in the front frame c so as to conceal the trays. Cushioning pads r of felt, rubber or like material may be provided on the runners h and on the removable back panel. The front and rear frames c may be interconnected not only by the guides d but by longitudinally extending box-like stiffeners.
