[Class 138(ii)] [Also in Groups XI and XXXVII] The body 2 and handles 4 of an electrically - heated domestic iron are constructed as two separate components which are moulded from synthetic resin or plastic material and formed with interengaging projections and recesses to locate the components in their correct relative positions. The two parts may be moulded from ureaformaldehyde, phenol-formaldehyde or thermoplastic material. The body 2, which is hollow, is provided with slightly upstanding portions 21, 25 at the rear and front ends thereof for engagement by correspondingly-shaped portions at the ends of the handle. Interengaging projections and recesses are provided on the abutting surfaces of the handle and body, and slots and threaded holes are formed in these parts for the reception of securing screws. The body contains a terminal block 9 which is, preferably, in the form of a synthetic resin moulding, and carries the contact arms 10 of a thermostatic switch, the thermostat 11 of which is located in a recess 12 in the metal base 1. The switch is controlled by a knob 14 through a spindle 17, cam 15 and roller 16 (see Group XXXVII). Terminal strips 19 on the block 9 project through slots in the rear portion of the bodv and handle into a recess in the handle which is closed by a cover plate 5 normally held in place by a screw 7. The cover plate 5 also carries an indicator lamp 6. The terminal strips 19 and a bridge 18, which provides a bearing for the spindle. 17, are both carried by a slotted metal member 30 screwed to the base 1. The body is secured to the base 1 by a screw 31 and a nut 32 carried by the bearing for the cam 15. The Provisional Specification describes also the handle and body as being secured together by screws making threaded connection with metal inserts moulded into the components.
