Abstract
A non-embrittling road tar is made by adding a fatty acid pitch, for example stearine pitch, and a petroleum oil in the range of oil from gas oil to heavy fuel oil according to the rate of setting required, to a road tar which conforms to British Standard Specifications for Type "A," "B" and "C" road tars. In an example to obtain a road tar of viscosity 60-70 secs. at 60 degrees C., a pitch is cut back to a viscosity of 80-90 secs. at 30 degrees C. and to 100 parts by weight of the cut-back tar, 5 parts by weight of stearine pitch and 10 parts by weight of fuel oil are added.
