Abstract
601,640. Snap-action switches. TAYLOR ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., and RICH, D. Nov. 12, 1945, No. 30191. [Class 38 (v)] The fixed contacts 2 and a ring contact 3 of each deck of a multi-position rotary switch are carried on a plate 1, and bridged selectively by a cantilever leaf spring 4 carried on an insulating disc 5 rotatable with a shaft 8. The discs 5 are mounted on bosses 11 secured to the shaft and are held in place by ring discs 18, 19, the end one of which discs 19 has a spring extension 7 co-operating with positioning humps 6a on a fixed plate 6, and a stop 23 engaging lugs 24, 25 to limit the shaft-rotation. The fixed contacts are preferably of light metal having portions bent over through fixing holes 27, 29 in the plate 1. The bridging contact 4 has two arms 4a, 4b, the ends of which may either directly engage the contacts 2, 3 or be joined by a plate 35 bearing thereon, Fig. 8. Longitudinal movement of the shaft 8 is prevented by a clip 22b sprung into grooves in the shaft and its boss 9, Fig. 2, and rotation of the plates 1, 6 is prevented by a lug 14 on the latter engaging a recess in a mounting panel 10.
