[Class 20(ii)] A system of shuttering for casting walls in situ comprises opposed rows of shutters 1, an aligning bar 14 along each row with spaced portions 15 engaging the outer sides of the row, tie bolts 10 each screwing into a threaded boss 10a in one shutter and having an adjustable collar 11 abutting the outer face of the opposite shutter whereby the rows of shutters may be spaced apart and supported on the previously formed lower part 9 of a wall, combined tie and spreader devices 16, 17, 18 across the top edges of the shutters, and means for securing abutting edges of adjacent shutters together. Each shutter 1 is formed from steel plate and has reinforcing hollow edge ribs 2 and a central rib 3. Bolts 8 with pointed and perforated heads are secured at intervals along one edge by screwing into threaded bosses 7 in the edge rib, the opposite edge being formed with keyhole slots 6 the ledge diameter portions of which increase in diameter inwardly, whereby adjacent pawls are connected together and readily disassembled. The panels have handles 23 and the backs may be open as shown or closed by a plain or embossed sheet for further rigidity. The horizontal panel edges may also have bolts 8 and keyhole slots. Each tie and spreader consists of a central portion 16 with depending tongues 16a engaging the inside of the shutters and aligning bars and two outer portions 18 with tongues 18a engaging the outside of the aligning bars assembled and clamped by two rods 17 with fixed collars 17a passing through the parts 18 and screwing into the central part 16. For forming a recess such as 9a at the top of a foundation wall the inside shutters may have a correspondingly shaped projection bolted to them. Shutters for foundation. walls. also have an upwardly projecting pin in the top edge near a corner and a corresponding hole in the bottom edge so that on sloping or irregular ground more. than one tier of shutters can be used, the pins and holes locating the shutters vertically. Outer shutters may be connected at a corner by an angle bar having projecting bolts 8 on one face and keyhole slots 6 in the other, and inner shutters by a hollow square section member having bolts 8 projecting from two faces at right angles. Alternatively shaped shutters having two portions at right angles can be used.
